Forms
The forms provide the foundation for Tai Chi practice. A form is a sequence of techniques performed in a continuous, flowing set. In addition to the martial relevance, regular practice of the forms can bring a number of health benefits including reduced blood pressure, increased suppleness, more balance and fluidity in everyday movement and increased energy levels as well as a more acute mental focus.
Another important aspect of form work is the development of the awareness of, and consequently the correct expression of chi in the body.
The weapons forms focus on extending focus out to include the weapon, demanding more advanced coordination and awareness of the weapon, but ultimately the basic postures and principles of the body are the same as the hand form.
